The Purpose

The purpose of this blog is to encourage the family of Four Mile Church to eat God's word on a more regular basis; to be nourished and fortified. Mile markers help you to know how far you have come and how much further you have to go. God's word is like a mile marker. My prayer is that this simple blogg helps you to partake in God's word and prayer on a more regular basis.

Please share your insights and revelations if you think they may encourage another brother or sister in Christ.

Hey Jude!

The Letter of Jude

Read through the book of Jude each day this week.

Mark the passages with the following letters that apply.

P- is there a universal truth being taught here.

A- something that helps me to love Christ more.

I- an insight about myself.

D- something I would like to detach from myself.

Pray

Lord Jesus Christ, whose will all things
obey: pardon what I have done and grant
that I, a sinner, may sin no more. Lord,
I believe that though I do not deserve
it, you can cleanse me from all my sins.
Lord, I know that man looks upon the
face, but you see the heart. Send your
spirit into my inmost being, to take
possession of my soul and body. Without
you I cannot be saved; with you to
protect me, I long for your salvation.
And now I ask you for your salvation.
And now I ask you for wisdom, deign of
your great goodness to help and defend
me. Guide my heart, almighty God, that I
may remember your presence day and night.

Wednesday
Galatians 1:6-10

Thursday
Ephesians 1:18-23

Friday
Philipians 1:3-11

Saturday and Sunday
Colossians 1:9-11

Reading and Praying

Read these prayers for the universal and specific churches. Do you pray for the church? Why not? Why wouldn't you be praying for the body faith that is supporting and building you up in the faith. It needs prayer also. The church is more than a spiritual vending machine that provides different services based upon your needs. The church is people. It is your eternal family. Take time to pray through each of these passages for church because when you do, you are praying not only for others, but for yourself.

Challenge
Memorize one of the verses above. I'm going to memorize the Colossians passage. Ask me Sunday how it went.

Presence

Deuteronomy 31:8

Joshua 1:5-6

Hebrews 13:5

Isaiah 41:13

"I will never leave you nor forsake you." We have heard these words, and we have also felt abandoned, by people and sometimes by God. Sometimes we have been the one to abandon. In either case, the pain we have felt and carry because of our experiences is very real and hard to carry.

This Week

Read each of these portions every day and then pick the one that resonates with you the best and memorize it.

Journal

Get a note book or piece of paper and write out the experiences when you have felt abandoned. Then write your memory verse at the end.

Prayer

Lord God, your words are true. You will never leave us nor forsake us. Forgive us when we have forsaken you. Forgive us for turning away. Your grace always welcomes us back with open arms. Heal our pain, Lord. Help us to forgive those who have abandoned us. Help us to repent for the times we have abandoned others. Thank you for the presence of the Holy Spirit. Help us to live this day in the community of God.
